The pre-cut wall molding kit was worth it for me because it gave my living room a custom wall-paneling look without needing to measure and miter-cut individual trim pieces. I paid $59 for my set, and it was manageable for a beginner with a nail gun and a second person to help hold the pieces level.

Best for: DIYers who want wall molding without using a miter saw.
Not ideal for: Anyone who wants a fully custom panel layout or has walls that do not work well with the preset frame sizes.
My biggest tip: Tape out the panel layout before ordering, especially if you have 8-foot walls.

Art3d Pre-Cut Wall Molding Review: My Honest Take

If you've been staring at a plain wall thinking "this needs something," but the idea of measuring, cutting, and mitering trim makes you want to lie down on the floor, this post is for you.

I finally finished the paneling in my living room using pre-cut wall molding, and I LOVE it. It's one of those projects where I stood back afterward and thought, "Why on earth did I wait so long?"

This is part of my living room refresh planning post. The refresh isn't done yet, but the paneling is such a big part of it that it deserves its own review.

In this post, I’m sharing what I bought, how I planned the layout with painter’s tape, how I installed it, what I would do differently, and whether I think the Art3d pre-cut wall molding kit is worth it.

What Comes in the Art3d Wall Molding Kit?

I used the Art3d Pre-Cut Wall Molding Set, Ready-to-Assemble Panels from Amazon. I paid $59 when I purchased it in September of 2026.

The set comes with 6 panels — 3 large, 3 small — each pre-cut in 4 pieces. You do have to plan for how you will install the pieces. More on that below.

How to Plan a Wall Molding Layout Before Buying

I used painter’s tape to create the panel outline directly on the wall. This helped me check three things before I ordered:

Whether the panel height looked proportional on an 8-foot wall
Whether the spacing looked balanced around the couch and nearby furniture
Whether the preset Art3d pieces would work without awkwardly small or oversized gaps

Start by finding the center of the wall. Then tape one full panel in the middle, step back, and adjust before adding the outer panels. Take a photo from across the room—proportions are often easier to judge in a photo than when you are standing right next to the wall.

Pro tip: Do this before you buy. It costs almost nothing and saves you from ordering the wrong amount.

Tools and Supplies

Level
Pencil
Brad nailer
Wood filler for nail holes
Wall paint and a small paintbrush or roller
Optional: Caulk to seal the edges - I didn't and think it looks fine without

Glue vs. Nail Gun: Which Installation Method Is Better?

You can install these with either construction adhesive or a nail gun. I'd recommend the nail gun, mostly because it's much easier to remove a panel if you need to adjust something or if you change your mind down the road. Glue is more of a commitment, and I make enough commitments as a mom of three.

The physical install went by pretty quick – maybe an hour tops with interruptions from 3 kids. I would recommend having a second set of hands for help making it level. One person holds each pre-cut piece against the wall and checks it with a level while the other secures it with a nail gun.

Fill, Paint, Done

After everything was up, I:

Filled the nail holes with wood putty
Painted the panels the same color as my wall

That's it. Painting the panels to match the wall gives you texture and dimension without a busy, contrasting look. It made a huge difference in the space.

What I'd Do Differently

Here's my honest "learn from my mistake" section.

Measure and plan better than I did. This set comes with bottom panels, and I didn't account for those in my planning. My walls came out a foot short of what I needed, and my couch was going to hide that section anyway. I’m either saving them for my hallway down the road or gifting to my mother in law, so they won't go to waste, but I'd rather you not have leftovers you didn't plan for.

For reference, my walls are 8 ft. Measure your own, compare it to what's in the set, and figure out your layout before you nail anything.
